This registration provides one family with unlimited access to our Cycle 1 Material Logic Course for one school year, in addition to continuing education for primary educators, a private forum for member families, and exclusive discounts for the purchase of partner materials.

The Aquinas Learning Schola Alta I series of introductory logic courses—Material Logic, Formal Logic, and Rhetoric—teaches the importance and methods of reasoning and communicating truth. The student learns how to make clear and sound arguments. All courses are rooted in the Greek and Roman classical tradition and informed by Christianity. Material Logic considers the common material fallacies. By studying the fallacies, the student learns to recognize unsound arguments spoiled by false ideas, deceptive or unclear language, irrelevant arguments, and weak evidence. The student is better able to sweep away distractions and confusion and get to the heart of an argument. This course develops skills in communication, dialogue, reasoning, and analysis. Topics include Aristotle’s three modes of persuasion; fallacies of relevance; fallacies of presumption; and fallacies of clarity.

Please note: This registration does not include the cost of materials or the cost of tuition paid to an independently owned and operated center using the AL curriculum.

Shortly after completing registration, member families will receive a getting started guide with instructions for ordering materials with members-only discount codes and access to the Material Logic course site. Full course materials will be uploaded and launched a couple of months before the start of the school year.
